Multifactor Authentication for CM/ECF and PACER

Starting May 11, 2025, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) will begin implementing multifactor authentication (“MFA”) for PACER and CM/ECF users. MFA provides an added layer of security to accounts to protect against cyberattacks and other security risks. Users with federal CM/ECF filing access will be required to enroll in MFA, and it will be optional for other PACER users. The AO expects to have fully implemented MFA for all CM/ECF filing users by the end of 2025. The AO has asked that filers wait to enroll in MFA until they are prompted to do so by PACER.
